7 FACTS: Terrifying Things Nobody Told You About

When people are asked about the things that scare them the most, they will usually list the most common and the most predictable things. But, did you know that you never had a chance to make a list of the things you fear from the all the terrifying things in this world? Here is a list of those that everyone has kept from you.

Brain Eating Amoebas

There are amoebas that are capable of eating your brain and can only be detected on a microscopic level. However, that does not make them any less vicious. These Naegleria fowleri are contracted when you are swimming in lakes or are drinking tap water. If you are anywhere outside North America or Western Europe, you should be safe because evidence of these amoebas has only been discovered in the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Too Much Water is Fatal

Even though it is not that likely, if you do drink too much, you can easily kill yourself because when the cells are full of H20, they can burst.

Australians Suffer from a Higher Risk of Skin Cancer

It is estimated that 2 out of 3 Aussies will be diagnosed with skin cancer once they reach the age of 70 years old. Now, you might be thinking that you can change those statistics by proper skin care and precaution but sadly, that is not the case. In fact, no amount of SPF is going to reverse this. The truth is that unlike other places, Australia is one continent that does not rely on the ozone to reflect the sun’s UV rays.

There is a Whole Planet of Bacteria in Your Belly Button

An average person has around 1,458 bacteria in their body. These bacteria have non-geographical restrictions and can be from places you may not have ever ventured to.

Tons of Bridges in the U.S. Are Unsafe

The term Fracture Critical given to bridges is scarier than you might think. It does not mean that a bridge has a single fault; it actually is a warning that the slightest break will result in the entire structure of the bridge falling down. If you want to be super safe about this, you should look up the bridges that fall under the Fracture Critical category. Now that you know this and if you live in the U.S., you might be a bit scared when travelling on overpasses.

There are More Dead People in the World

For every person, there are 15 dead people. So, in case of a zombie apocalypse, the odds are not in your favor.

Don’t Let the World Lose all of Its Wheat

You may not know it but you have a hand in this. There is a certain fungus, known as the Ug99, which is powerful enough to infect whole wheat crops. Right now, it is common in a lot of African countries and can easily spread out to different parts of the world fairly fast, that is if you carry the infected crop to other parts of the world. It’s just a mold but its impact is devastating on a large level.

“When it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise,” Johnson said, echoing comments he made on The Tonight Show . “Americans deserve strong, capable leaders, leaders who care about this country and care about its people.”

“Uh, Dwayne, that kind sounds like you and me,” Hanks said. “I guess we gotta do it!”

What is Sarine & How Does it Work

DENSDOME- The victims of a bombing in northern Syria this week were exposed to sarin, a banned but easily manufactured poison that has been widely used in chemical weapons, Turkish officials who conducted autopsies on the victims said on Thursday.

WHAT IS SARIN?
Sarin is a nerve agent, one of a class of chemicalweapons that affect the brain’s ability to communicate with the body’s organs through thenervous system. It is a colorless, tasteless, odorless liquid that was first synthesized in Germany in 1938 as a potential pesticide.

Sarin is considered “the most volatile of the nerve agents,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“This means it can easily and quickly evaporate from a liquid into a vapor and spread into the environment.”Sarin vapor does not last long, but it can be deadly if inhaled.

Contact with sarin liquid on exposed surfaces, in food, or in water can also be fatal. Its effects may strike quickly or be delayed after exposure.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
All nerve agents belong to a class of organic compounds that contain phosphorous, and work in essentially the same way, by inhibiting the action of a crucial enzyme in the body that allows muscles and organs to contract.

Without the enzyme’s action, the muscles and organs areconstantly stimulated and stop working properly;asphyxiation soon follows.

HOW IS IT WEAPONIZED?

Sarin is dangerous to handle and has a short shelf life, so it is usually stored in the form of twoseparate precursor compounds that will producesarin when mixed together.

On the battlefield, sarin and other nerve agents can be used against targets by spraying them asa liquid or an aerosol.
Chemical bombs are designed to spray out the liquid on detonation.
The Syrian government is believed to have used such a bomb this week in Idlib Province.

TheUnited NationsChemical Convention, which bans the use of sarin in war, went into effect in 1997.

The Syrian government agreed in 2013 to destroy its chemical weapons stockpile, including sarin.

HOW TOXIC IS IT?
According to the United States military, sarin is 81 times as toxic as cyanide and 543 times as toxic as chlorine, which has been used in Syria as a chemical weapon.

Chlorine has legitimate commercial uses and is not banned.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE?
Symptoms of exposure may include the pupils ofthe eyes shrinking to pinpoints, rapid breathing, vomiting, convulsions, paralysis and respiratory failure. Swift medical attention can reverse the effects of low levels of exposure.

BREAKING: Russian Ambassador to UN Dies in New York

The Russian ambassador to the United Nations died after suffering cardiac arrest in Manhattan Monday morning, a day before his 65th birthday, sources told The Post.

Vitaly Churkin fell ill at his office at the Russian Mission to the U.N. on East 67th Street around 9:30 a.m. and was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived, sources said.

Churkin was given CPR and taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital in serious condition.

He was pronounced dead at 10:55 a.m., sources added.

Churkin had served as Russia’s permanent representative to the U.N. since 2006.

His death was announced Monday, followed by a moment of silence, at a routine meeting on General Assembly matters.

Many of Churkin’s colleagues took to social media to express their condolences.

“Shocked and saddened to learn that Ambassador Vitaly Churkin passed away. A top diplomat and a good friend,” Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko tweeted.

Netherlands’ UN Ambassador Karel van Oosterom wrote: “Emotional announcement at UN of passing away this morning of PermRep Russia Churkin and moment of commemoration and condolences.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed Churkin “unexpectedly died” but provided no details as to how he died.
It called him an “outstanding” envoy.
Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a Facebook post that Churkin was “an extraordinary person. A bright man. We have lost a dear one.”

President Vladimir Putin was notified of his death, state news agency TASS reported.

“The president was grieved to learn about the death of Vitaly Churkin. The head of state highly estimated Churkin’s professionalism and diplomatic talents,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to the agency.

Churkin was currently the longest-serving member of the Security Council, the UN’s most powerful body.

“He has been such a regular presence here that I am actually quite stunned. Our thoughts go to his family, to his friends and to his government,” said Farhan Haq, a spokesman for the UN secretary-general’s office.

Churkin was a staunch supporter of Russian policy, including its bombing of Aleppo in Syria last year.

He slammed US Ambassador Samantha Power for acting like “Mother Teresa” – while noting America’s track record in the Middle East — after she lambasted Russia, Syria and Iran over the Aleppo crisis.

Power also reacted to Churkin’s sudden death.

“Devastated by passing of Russian UN Amb Vitaly Churkin.Diplomatic maestro &deeply caring man who did all he cld to bridge US-RUS differences,” she tweeted.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, who earlier this month blamed Russia for the spike in violence in eastern Ukraine and said sanctions wouldn’t be lifted until Moscow returned Crimea to Kiev, issued a statement calling Churkin “a gracious colleague.”

“We did not always see things the same way, but he unquestionably advocated his country’s positions with great skill,” she said. “We send our prayers and heartfelt condolences to lift up his family and to the Russian people.”

Churkin previously worked in the foreign ministry in Moscow.
