Checkout Real Madrid Manager, Zidane’s Remark Following La Liga Victory

Zinedine Zidane stunned journalists in Malaga when he declared  winning LaLiga is more important than winning the UEFA Champions League. As the coach of Madrid, since he replaced Rafa Benitez, he had won almost everything that needed to be won.

“This is my happiest day as a coach. I have won everything with this club and winning LaLiga is the best”, the Frenchman said.

Zidane had cause to prefer La Liga trophy more than any other. The Whites have not won it since 2011/2012, leaving Barcelona to dominate. Thus winning it and dethroning Barcelona became very special.

“We’ve achieved this by really working hard, over the course of 38 match days. The Spanish top flight is the toughest in the world. It is an important moment for me as a coach. The key of the success lies in the group. They have been united all season and that was the key for this LaLiga campaign. Everyone deserves praise, but above all the players deserve it. They believed in the message I told them,” he said.

“It is the players who are out there on the pitch, they play and suffer. There are 24 of them, it is difficult to give them all the same number of minutes, but they are key. The success is down to the work they put in and the belief in what they do. If you work hard, with this squad I was able to win LaLiga, and that is not an easy feat”.

Here are the other things Zidane said Sunday night:

Zinedine Zidane held aloft by his players

“I am really happy and pleased. I’m happy to win LaLiga. We have played 38 match days and come out on top. This is the happiest day of my professional life, it feels different. We won the last games against Sevilla, Celta and Málaga. We struggled throughout the LaLiga campaign, but these three games were key”.

Mission accomplished

“As the Real Madrid coach, you know what the expectation levels are like. I like it. Now we’re going back to Madrid and to Cibeles to see the fans, who have to see their team. I dedicate this title to all the madridistas and to those who have been behind the team. On a personal level, this is for my family and my brother, the eldest. Although he will not understand what I’m saying in Spanish”.

“I’ve suffered every three days, every game. There’s a lot of tension. We live for this and I’m passionate about what I do. After nine months we’ve won the league and after four years it’s hard to put it into words”.

“They played their game. They’re a good team and they’ve won a lot of games of late. We knew it would be difficult but we scored right away and that made things easier for us”.

The Champions League final

“I’m not going to think about Cardiff yet, I’m just going to enjoy what we’ve achieved. When you start the season you know that LaLiga is your bread and butter. I could get up and dance right now but I’m not going to, but I’m really happy inside”.

Panic in Camp Nou as Messi set to dump Barcelona

There is panic at the Camp Nou ahead of the 2018 when Lionel Messi’s contract will expire.

The club’s inability to offer the 5-time world footballer of the year an improved contract could see the player leave the club.

Messi contemplating his stay at Barcelona

The Argentine is expected to command a new deal at £21m a year, same amount being earned by Neymar and Luis Suarez.

Chief executive of the club Oscar Grau disclosed that Barca must exercise common sense in the area of revenue sourcing from sponsorship deals and player sales.

“We want the best players but perhaps we have to prioritise,” he added.

There are budgetary limits in Spain for each club at the start of every season and teams are not allowed to spend more than 70% of their budget on wages.

According to Grau, the 29-year-old Messi currently earns about £19m but admitted that the amount needs to be ‘increased sensibly’
“We have to make the numbers add up,” he added. “One option is to increase our revenues, as our economic strategy forecasts.

“The club wants the best player in the world to stay at Barca. I would like to ease the concerns of club members and supporters but we have to use common sense.”

There are speculations that the player may not extend his contract at the club following alleged tax fraud he was involved in 2016.

Recall that the Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and his father Jorge were sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax fraud; but as the sentence was short of two years, and neither Lionel nor Jorge had a criminal record, they were not required to serve any jail term.

Checkout the shocking revelation Jose Mourinho gave about Ashley Young and Memphis Depay

Jose Mourinho admits he has a ‘bad feeling’ over Memphis Depay and Ashley Young for not giving the two players more time on the pitch with Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho admits he feels guilty for not giving Memphis Depay and Ashley Young more game time.

Both Depay and Young have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window having failed to secure a regular role under Mourinho.

But the United manager admits he feels guilty that the pair were not given a chance to prove themselves in the same way as Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo in recent weeks.

‘I still have some bad feelings towards myself because I didn’t give a real chance to everyone, there are some positions in our squad where we have overbooked,’ Mourinho told Sky Sports.

Depay hasn’t started in the Premier League this season

Young made only four League appearances this season

‘To be honest, people like Ashley Young and Memphis Depay, I didn’t really give them a run of matches to play, to prove. So I have this little bad feeling.

‘In relation to Marcos and Phil Jones, I’m really pleased with both. Marcos, he was a player considered by many as someone without the quality to be a Manchester United player.

‘Phil was [seen as] a stampede, injury-prone player without the conditions to be back to the good Phil Jones of the past, so I was very happy for them.’

Gary Woods: I’m not going back to Ross County to see friends

Gary Woods is looking forward to catching up with some former team-mates and staff at Ross County on Saturday – after taking three points from them.

The talented goalkeeper was on loan at County from Leyton Orient last season, helping the Dingwall side win the League Cup, and he has happy memories there.
However, he’s determined to get Accies on the right track after the disappointment of blowing a 3-1 lead against Hearts on Monday.

Woods said: “I hope we go there and get the three points, first and foremost. I enjoyed my time up there and I have some good memories but I want to get the three points – and talk to them after.”

On the 3-3 draw with Hearts, Woodsy said: “It’s frustrating. We were 3-1 up with 20 minutes to go and we had to see the game out.

“Unfortunately Dan Seaborne slipped, they got the penalty, but we still needed to see the game ut, and the third goal was just poor defending from our perspective.

“We were playing good football, but errors are costing us at the minute and we’re gutted. I thought we deserved the three points, but that’s football.
“It’s like we’re broken records, because we’re coming out and saying the same things every week.

“Probably the only game this season that we haven’t turned up in was Dundee at home, and it’s disappointing, but results will change for us if we continue to do what we’re doing and playing the way we are.

“Everyone is beating everyone, people are picking up points when you don’t think they’re going to. We’re gutted, it was a good chance for us to get into the top six.

“It’s individual errors that are costing us, and if we cut them out I’m sure we’ll start picking up three points, hopefully starting on Saturday.

“If you look at the games we’ve had when we’ve been in winning positions we should have far more points than we have, but first and foremost the performances are there to see.

“It’s not like we’ve been playing badly; hopefully luck changes a little bit for us.”
