Supporters of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the just concluded governorship election in Edo state today, October 1, took to the steets of the state capital, Benin to continue their protests over the conduct of the Edo election.
The unrelenting supporters who were in their hundreds carried placards with words like ”INEC is Biased”, ”Declare Ize-Iyamu governor” e.t.c.
Mr Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the governor-elect of Edo state after a keenly contested election.
Obaseki, a known face in the administration of out-going governor, Adams Oshiomole was until his victory, the chairman of the state’s Economic and Strategy Team.
He defeated Ize-Iyamu by polling 319, 483 against the latter’s 253,173 votes.
Obaseki’s victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediately sparked protest from PDP supporters in the state capital, Benin.
